Three workmen today and sometimes four, Marcus came back - he doesn't drink tea but asked for a jam and cream doughnut instead, Simon - two sugars, and Sam - a healthy no sugar man, incidentally we learned today that Sam's brother is a male super model in Barcelona. We also had flying visits from Tony and Steve. Quite a team and a lot of progress was made even if we did get some rain during the day, we also had to hand over a healthy wedge of cash to Tony to pay for the wages for two weeks and some of the materials. I am a bit concerned that we are not getting any receipts for the money but it goes with the territory of employing self employed builders and not doing a fixed price contract with a big building firm.
This will be a very short blog tonight on account that I am typing this on the notebook! Haven't made up my mind if I like Vista or not, but the combination of a new operating system and a much smaller keyboard is very hard for me. I have spent all day installing new programmes, taking off some of those that were supplied and moving all my favourites and email contacts over plus moving all my letters and photographs. I am really pleased with the way that Vista picked up my wireless broadband and also allowed me to connect to the two computers and the printer upstairs. Incidentally when I say all day, I mean all day, at least 8 hours of sitting hunched over the dining room table plus running up and down the stairs to fetch CDs and DVDs. Someone who is sitting not a million miles away from me at this very
moment was not exactly happy, although she did realise that it had to be done if we are to move out of the study at the weekend.
Today's picture shows the progress that they made today, we are 5 blocks high and the gap that you can see is not a doorway but where one of the windows will go. They had to leave a gap so that they can get in and out. Eventually when they have access via the house the blocks will be built up and the window put in.
