Day 51 Radiating

Posted by Sam Woollard

Only one picture tonight, I think that photos of plastered walls are getting very boring, but that plus the wiring are the only things that are happening right now. Simon plastered two walls today in the new dining/bedroom and as he has already done the ceiling that leaves just one wall to do and another room will be complete.

Tom and Marcus have dot and dabbed what used to be the outside wall and is now the inner wall of our master bathroom and they have framed up all the other walls plus the inner wall of our bedroom. Lots of silver backed foam insulation is being packed into the framing and then it will ready for screwing on the plasterboard and then Simon will have another room to plaster.

Tony fixed the radiators in place in the living room, the conservatory and the study, so we can paint out the study as soon as the workers move all their tools out. Tony and Marcus also worked together to install the big shower base in the master bathroom and this is shown in today's photo. It's not the flat low level type that we really wanted when we started this project but it won't be quite as high as it looks by the time that the floor is brought up to the right level and we also add the laminate flooring. However it is as big as we could fit into the space and have our double sink vanity unit where we wanted it.

John the electrician has our house in chaos fitting new sockets into the places where we need them. Today we had to move everything in the conservatory out onto the deck while while he ran new cables to the sockets and the lights. We found a few hidden treasures but we also found some HUGE spiders lurking behind the glass cabinet. One of them seemed to be guarding the dead body of a mate - a black widow perhaps? Then John moved into the living room and so we muscled the settees and armchairs around so that he could get into the corners of the walls. We moved them back temporarily tonight but we know that we have to move them all again tomorrow so that he can do the other side. He also took the fronts off the sockets that I had installed in the kitchen several years ago and found that I had use wire that was too small so now we will have to take down our lovely kitchen tiles. We were hoping to avoid this but my mistake all those years ago has come back to bite us. We also have to take down some of the kitchen cupboards tomorrow so who knows what other problems, or spiders will come to light?

OK, that's enough for tonight, it is 8.45pm but at least it is light enough to read and type by. We have had good weather all day apart from one tiny shower and tomorrow is also forecast to be good.
