It's not easy to describe today's progress but there was a lot of it mostly done by Simon and Sam, we had a little help from Tom who came over to give his professional advice on Acro props and one of these now supports the roof over what used to be our bedroom window. I have taken several photos from the inside of the house as that is easier than trying to describe how the layout goes. This first photo shows what
was the small downstairs bedroom - the radiator will go of course - the room itself will have a changed function and become a small dining room with a bed settee for use by occasional guests. On the left of the picture is the entrance to the new bathroom. The second photo on the right shows the area where a new shower unit will be built - the plank protrudes part way into it, this will be a walled shower tray unit with a glass door, we are not sure yet whether it will have a folding door or a straight hinged one. Hilary likes the latter as it is easier to clean, we have already bought the tiles for the walls and the flooring, and we have the loo and the vanity unit.
Moving swiftly on as they say to the master bathroom, this is much easier to describe. On the right is a photo showing a window and just to the left of that will be the loo with a modesty wall that has yet to be built, facing the window will be the double vanity unit with a HUGE mirror above it - at least if I have my way. The final picture shows that same window with a blank wall on the
right and it is along that wall we will be tiling for the main walk in shower. We are still playing with the actual size that we can fit in but rest assured that it will be as big as we can possibly make it and we have insisted all along that it must have a very, very low profile, preferably flat to the floor so that we can just walk in. With our drainage slopes that won't be easy but for us it is essential.
OK that is the description over for tonight and I hope that you understood it all, tomorrow there will be a pop test just to check. I did a lot of walking again today as I took the car back because we still have smelly brakes, no fault was found again but I still think that is definitely there. We cleared out the study today and now the only things that are left are the shelves and the drawer units that I made - all those will be de-constructed tomorrow. So that is pretty much that whole end of the house ready for the builders, I will check with Tony tomorrow exactly how to ensure that the central heating is turned off and then we can drain the radiators so that they can all be removed. OK it's getting dark and I must stop now, will post again tomorrow, the last day before the rain returns and of course it is a Bank Holiday weekend!
